About
Denis Iskandarov
Lead DevOps Engineer — Kubernetes, automation, cloud-native infrastructure. Based in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Background
I've been in IT since 2005, when I started a Computer Science degree at Georgian Technical University. The first decade was classic sysadmin and netadmin work — racking servers, troubleshooting networks, and the occasional 3 AM call when something caught fire.
My first formal "DevOps" job came in 2015 at ZEG LLC, where I spent ~6 years migrating two physical data centers to AWS, writing ~85 Puppet modules, and guiding production teams toward modern cloud-native techniques on top of a legacy PHP stack. We adopted Kubernetes in 2017, initially on-premises with kops, then in AWS.
Since then I've worked with several US-based companies remotely: an NFT marketplace at Yat.fyi, a financial data-processing platform at Lahoma Management, and currently at Pluto TV (Paramount Global), where I help run production EKS at the scale of ~650 nodes / 9K pods baseline and ~75M monthly users, with peaks of 4K nodes / 35K pods during special events.
I've also done short consulting engagements — most notably architecting on-premises Kubernetes clusters for a top German automotive supplier (EBZ Gruppe).
My core focus is cloud-native infrastructure: Kubernetes, Terraform/OpenTofu, GitOps with ArgoCD or FluxCD, and the observability stack (Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, OpenTelemetry). I lean toward cutting-edge tooling — recent work has used Talos, Karpenter, Cilium, Harness, and similar — but the goal is always reliability, performance, and cost optimization, not novelty for its own sake.
I work primarily in Go, Python, and Bash. I'm CKA and AWS Solutions Architect Associate certified.
